The beloved cast of The Goonies reunited on Monday, February 3, to honor Ke Huy Quan at his hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles. The special event brought together costars Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green, and the film’s screenwriter, Chris Columbus, as they celebrated their longtime friend and fellow Goonie.
The group posed for both sentimental and playful photos, marking the nearly 40-year journey since the 1985 film’s release. Josh Brolin took to the stage to share touching words about Quan, highlighting his remarkable journey.
"You're truly one of the last existences of the American dream," Brolin said. "Ke Huy Quan ... after The Goonies, I spent 19 years navigating the industry while you excelled in another profession. You have that Midas touch because of your heart of gold."
Reflecting on their early days, Brolin added, "I was 16, and you were a spritely 13. Your family was always welcoming, full of heart. I couldn't be happier for you. This honor is not only deserved but celebrates everything good in this industry."
Though Sean Astin was absent from the event, fans can look forward to seeing him reunite with Quan in their upcoming action film, Love Hurts.
Speaking to TooFab after the ceremony, Quan, now 53, admitted he "couldn't control my emotions" during the heartfelt speeches. When asked about a possible on-screen reunion, he eagerly expressed his interest in revisiting his iconic character, Data.
"I love that movie so much. It's one of the greatest adventures of my life," Quan said. "I would be so happy to revisit that character and go on another Goonies adventure with my fellow Goonies. That would be amazing!"
The cast last reunited virtually in 2020 during an event hosted by actor Josh Gad, but this in-person gathering proved that, even after four decades, Goonies truly never say die.
