Here are other preventive measures you can take to keep your house safe.

#1 Don’t announce that you’re on holiday on social media

One of the benefits of having a social media account is that we can share our photos with our online audience. Unfortunately, burglars also make full use of this platform to plan their targets.

No matter how excited or impatient you are, it’s best to keep your holiday a secret until you return home.

#2 Install home security system

Robbers tend to target homes without security system. So, consider investing in home alarm system and CCTV to deter burglars. Make sure to have it tested on a regular basis and that they’re working properly each time before going away.

#3 Let your neighbours & police know that you’re away

You can ask the person next door or neighbourhood police to keep an eye on your house while you’re away. You can also notify someone trustworthy like your friend or close relative.

#4 Close your curtains to cover your valuable items

If passers-by can see your flat screen HD TV, computers and antique jewellery armoires from outside your house, chances are you’re luring intruders. So, don’t leave your curtains wide open that may expose your valuables.

You can also get your house windows tinted so valuable items are out of sight.

#5 Keep light or radio on when nobody’s home

Before leaving, make your house lively by turning on the lights or playing music to create the impression that there are people in the house.

Now that you’re all set, we wish you Gong Xi Fa Cai and have a safe journey!
