Goldie Hawn had a heartwarming moment at the 2025 Oscars, but her son Oliver Hudson couldn't help but poke fun at her reaction.

After the Private Benjamin actress took the stage on March 2 to present an award alongside Andrew Garfield, the Spider-Man star shared a touching tribute, crediting her for bringing joy to his late mother’s life. The emotional moment didn’t go unnoticed by Oliver, who took to Instagram the next day with a playful post.
“This was so touching and unexpected,” Oliver wrote on March 3. “Andrew, that was beautiful, my man. I cried, I laughed, I swelled with pride… and then became concerned that my mom was now gonna love Andrew Garfield more than me.”
And just to add to his concern, he quipped, “I’m still not sure where I stand. She hasn’t responded to my texts so…”
Goldie, however, wasn’t about to let that slide. Jumping in on the fun, she replied, “I’m sorry I didn’t answer your texts honey, I was talking to Andrew!!!”
While Oliver playfully worried about his ranking in his mom’s heart, Goldie was busy soaking in the gratitude from Garfield. The We Live In Time actor used their moment on stage to share just how much she meant to his family.
“There’s a person who gave my mother, during her life, the most joy, the most comfort,” Garfield said, holding Goldie’s hand. “And tonight, I feel very lucky because I get to thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn.”

The legendary actress—who shares Oliver and daughter Kate Hudson with ex Bill Hudson, as well as son Wyatt Russell with longtime partner Kurt Russell—was visibly moved.
Acknowledging his late mother, Lynn Garfield, who passed away in 2019 from pancreatic cancer, Andrew added, “I can feel her smiling at us in this moment. You’ve given us movies full of joy. You’ve lifted our spirits and made us feel that all was right with the world, over and over again.”
A stunned Goldie responded with gratitude: “I just loved it, you know? I just loved making movies, this amazing Hollywood, and making people laugh. And maybe some didn’t—but that’s okay.”
While Oliver might be playfully questioning his mom’s love, one thing is certain—Goldie Hawn’s warmth and legacy continue to touch lives, both on and off the screen.
