A Malaysian woman, Fazwin, shared a spooky yet hilarious encounter when her Valak-inspired costume – based on the demon nun from The Conjuring – startled a police officer at a roadblock, possibly helping her avoid a fine for expired road tax.

On her way to a company dinner, Fazwin went all out with her costume, which included eerie makeup and the signature nun’s habit. As she waited at the roadblock, she started to worry about how her terrifying appearance might affect the police officers.
When it was her turn to be stopped, the elderly officer who approached her car visibly jumped in shock, clutching his chest and exclaiming, "You scared me! I really thought it was a ghost!" Fazwin quickly apologized and explained her costume, but the officer, still recovering from the surprise, let her go without issuing a fine for her expired road tax, which had lapsed just a few days earlier on January 14.

Fazwin explained that she chose the Valak costume for the dinner's theme as it allowed her to experiment with makeup and was easy to assemble. Though she didn’t win the ‘Best Costume’ prize, which carried a RM500 reward, the roadblock incident was a prize in itself.
Netizens found the story hilarious, with many praising Fazwin’s costume and joking that she had won the ultimate roadblock prize: a free pass!
