A five-year-old boy from Johor Bahru has left onlookers in awe with his extraordinary ability to solve complex math problems in under a minute.

Uwais Mohammad Zulqarnain, who proudly calls himself a "math whiz," can quickly answer around 10 math questions, ranging from single-digit multiplication to advanced calculations involving powers and square roots—all without using a calculator.
According to his mother, Surya Syafiqah A Rahim, 32, Uwais’ fascination with mathematics began at the tender age of four. “He started with simple addition, subtraction, and multiplication, but his understanding of mathematics has grown rapidly since then,” she shared in an interview with New Straits Times.
But math is not the only area where Uwais excels. The young prodigy is also fluent in Spanish, Russian, and Jawi, demonstrating his remarkable aptitude for learning. Surya credits Uwais’ success to his natural enthusiasm and the unwavering support from his father, Mohammad Zulqarnain Alan Zamirza, 33, who works as an engineer.
“We introduce Uwais to numerical games, take him to bookstores, and include him in our reading routines. Additionally, he attends reading and speech classes in the city,” Surya explained.
Uwais has also taken the initiative to learn languages independently, using online resources under his parents’ supervision. Uwais’ rapid progress in math has already earned him a place in a class designed for six-year-olds, despite his young age.
“He can solve single-digit multiplication problems in just three to five seconds,” his mother said. “Even after answering 20 questions in one session, he remains eager to try more.”
The boy has received numerous awards for his academic achievements and mathematical prowess, further highlighting his exceptional talents.
Surya also attributes Uwais’ cognitive abilities to a balanced and nutritious diet, which includes vegetables like broccoli, carrots, and tomatoes, as well as a variety of fruits. “We believe his diet, combined with the exposure and encouragement we provide, plays a significant role in his development,” she added.
Expressing her gratitude, Surya concluded, “Uwais’ abilities are truly a gift from God. We are grateful for his talents and pray for his continued growth and good health.”
With his exceptional skills in both mathematics and languages, Uwais’ future shines brightly, inspiring many along the way.
