Potholes pose a serious hazard to road users, potentially causing accidents and significant damage to vehicles. Recently, in Kampung Pantai Cicaru, Changlun, Kedah, several vehicles fell victim to massive potholes that have sparked widespread concern.
Photos of the incident, shared on the Facebook page “PoCket Kedah,” highlight the severity of the situation. The images show two cars with their left sides lodged in large potholes and a motorcycle submerged with both its front and rear wheels stuck. Passersby were seen working together to rescue the trapped bike.
“This happened in Kampung Bendang Cheruk, Changlun, Kedah. This is really terrible—it endangers public safety,” the Facebook post captioned.
The affected road is a two-lane passage, with the damaged area situated directly in the middle of one lane, creating a serious hazard for vehicles traveling in both directions.
Kubang Pasu District Police Chief Mohamad Rizuan confirmed that the Changlun Police Station had received complaints from construction contractors regarding damage caused to vehicles. However, no official reports of accidents have been lodged so far.
Adding to the confusion, some netizens speculated that the potholes were caused by a water pipe project conducted by Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA).
However, the company denied involvement, stating that the roadworks were not part of their operations.
