Martha Stewart had quite the experience working with Matthew McConaughey—and it left her a little shaken.

The lifestyle mogul recently teamed up with the Oscar winner for an Uber Eats Super Bowl ad, where he played multiple historical characters. But according to Stewart, his intense approach to acting was a bit unsettling.
During The Martha Stewart Podcast, she shared her thoughts with How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days star Kate Hudson.
“He actually scared me,” Stewart admitted.
Hudson, who worked with McConaughey in multiple rom-coms, wasn’t surprised. “Was he wild?” she asked, laughing.

“Oh, yes,” Stewart confirmed. “I think he’s a method actor. He had to play 10 characters, and he really got into each one—it took him about 15 minutes to get into character.”
Hudson recalled McConaughey’s unique warm-up techniques. “And he’d make weird sounds,” she said.
Stewart agreed. “He’s grunting, breathing, jumping up and down—and that scared me.”
Hudson reassured her, saying, “You get used to it… after a couple of weeks,” before joking, “You probably just wanted to tell him to shut the hell up.”
Despite the unusual prep, both Stewart and Hudson praised McConaughey’s talent and energy on set.
“We have so much fun when we’re working,” Hudson said, adding that their rom-com chemistry worked because they were both “very competitive” and “flirtatious.”
While McConaughey’s acting methods may be unconventional, one thing’s for sure—he leaves a lasting impression.
