The HUAWEI Mate50 Series was launched about two months ago and it seems the smartphone brand is still very much in demand.

Queues were spotted outside of HUAWEI stores around the country. Plus, the orange vegan leather HUAWEI Mate50 Pro Kunlun Edition was sold out on the very first day of sale!

Besides the orange Kunlun Edition, HUAWEI also released two new variants this month—carbon black and silver—in response to requests from fans who wanted more subtle and classic colours.

What’s the Kunlun Edition and why are people raving about it?

Most glass panels used in the industry are only chemically toughened on the surface, which means they can only partially withstand the effects of outside forces. To increase its durability, one would need to add more layers to the glass display, but that would make it uncomfortable to hold or use.

So, to deal with this problem, the HUAWEI Mate50 Pro Kunlun Edition is made using a really durable glass known as Kunlun glass.

HUAWEI collaborated with a glass specialist company and spent 4 years in research. They discovered that they could strengthen the glass by fusing nanocrystals—10 quadrillion-level nanocrystals, to be exact—right into its core. This increases the phone’s drop resistance by 10 times, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally dropping the phone!

But don’t just take our word for it—see it yourself:

The HUAWEI Mate50 Pro Kunlun Edition also became the first smartphone to ever receive a 5-star certification for glass drop protection from Switzerland SGS, the world’s leading testing company.

That’s impressive. But can the HUAWEI Mate50 Pro take good photos?

Well, HUAWEI’s Mate Series has always been about delivering the latest innovation and technology so you can expect nothing less. The HUAWEI Mate50 Pro has also been deemed one of the best smartphones of 2022 because of its camera!

It’s got an 50MP Ultra Aperture XMAGE Camera. Or to put it in layman terms, the camera auto-adjusts so you can take great shots day AND night. It comes with 10 different aperture sizes so you can play around with the blur and depth of field for really professional photos.

There’s also a low battery emergency mode so your phone can last longer

In case your grandchild has been using your phone all day and your battery is running precariously low, the HUAWEI Mate50 Pro is a lifesaver.

Whenever your HUAWEI Mate50 Pro battery drops to 1%, the low battery emergency mode will kick in, giving you enough power to last 12 minutes of calls or 3 hours of standby. That’s a lot for a mere 1%!
