A new documentary, Stan Lee: The Final Chapter, is set to explore the tumultuous last years of the Marvel legend’s life. Filmmaker Jon Bolerjack, who spent years capturing footage of Lee at conventions, movie premieres, and at home, claims to have documented troubling behavior from those around the beloved comic book icon.

The project, kept under wraps until now, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund its completion. Bolerjack alleges that Lee, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 95, was in financial distress and subjected to grueling public appearances despite his deteriorating health.
The documentary follows previous reports of elder abuse and power struggles over Lee’s care and estate. Bolerjack, who initially set out to create a reality show with Lee, says he eventually became a close confidant, advocating for the legendary creator’s well-being.

According to Bolerjack, Lee was aware of and supported the documentary, hoping his story would serve as a cautionary tale. The film is expected to shed light on the unseen struggles of one of pop culture’s most beloved figures.
