Deputy Minister of Communications, Teo Nie Ching, a passionate running enthusiast, kicked off the new year with an impressive 10-kilometer run, completing it in 57 minutes and 37 seconds. In a heartfelt post shared on Facebook, YB Teo opened up about the significant role running has played in both her physical well-being and mental resilience.

YB Teo revealed that in 2024, she covered a total of 1,906.12 kilometers—a feat that resulted from her daily routine of running 5 kilometers. Though the total distance might seem daunting, YB Teo explained that her consistency and commitment to the sport were key to achieving this goal.
Running, for YB Teo, has grown beyond just a fitness routine—it has become a tool for personal growth and self-discipline.

YB Teo shared how running mirrors the challenges of everyday life. The practice, she said, has taught her to stay focused during moments of anxiety and not to waste energy on things beyond her control. Whenever faced with self-doubt, she reminded herself to focus on what she could change and make a positive impact on.
She also reflected on how running has helped her build confidence, noting that it has allowed her to honor promises made to herself and stay resilient in the face of difficulties.
YB Teo expressed how running has given her valuable life lessons. When the scenery is uninspiring, she pushes herself to pick up the pace. On the other hand, when the journey becomes challenging, she allows herself to slow down and persevere. She believes that the key is to stay on course, trusting that the rewards and satisfaction lie just ahead.
To celebrate her achievements, YB Teo humorously concluded her post by mentioning that after completing her run, she treated herself to her first slice of bak kwa and pineapple tart of the year. It was the perfect reward after a hard-earned run, adding a sweet touch to her physical and mental triumphs.
