Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, our National Sportsman Award (ASN) 2019/2020 winner plans to retire as a track cyclist after the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Paris Olympics will be his fifth appearance at the Olympics.
He added that the 2022 Commonwealth Games and Asian Games will be his last in these two games as he will be giving his full attention to ensuring that he can create history again.
The 34-year-old former world champion, dubbed “The Pocket Rocketman” also apologized for not being able to attend the ASN 2019/2022 ceremony because of his tight schedule.
He is currently actively undergoing training in preparation for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.
“I would like to express my gratitude to all parties including the National Sports Council, National Sports Institute, Olympic Council of Malaysia, Malaysian National Cycling Federation and the Terengganu State Sports Council,” he added.
It is the fourth time he has won the award.
