Cyberbullying is a serious issue that can have lasting effects on mental health and well-being. If you find yourself targeted online, it's important to protect yourself and seek support. Here are the steps you can take: 

  1. Take a Screenshot: Capture evidence of the harassment, including text messages, social media posts, or any other form of digital communication. 

  1. Make a Police Report: Cyberbullying is a crime in many jurisdictions. Report the incident to your local police department and provide them with the screenshots as evidence. 

  1. Report to Relevant Authorities: In Malaysia, you can report cyberbullying to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Other resources include the Kasih 15999 hotline and Mercy Malaysia Befrienders, who can provide support and guidance. 

  1. Adjust Privacy Settings: Review and adjust the privacy settings on your social media accounts to control who can see your posts and contact you online. 

  1. Share with Trusted Individuals: Talk to someone you trust about what you're experiencing. They can offer emotional support and help you navigate the situation. 

  1. Do Not Engage: Avoid responding to the bully directly, as this may escalate the situation. Instead, focus on documenting the harassment and seeking assistance. 

Taking these steps can empower you to take control of the situation and protect yourself from cyberbullying. Remember, you don't have to face this alone—reach out for help and support when you need it.
