Celine Dion Warns Fans About AI Music Impersonating Her "Fake and Not Approved"

This isn’t the first time Dion has spoken out to protect her work.

International music icon Celine Dion is speaking out against artificial intelligence after discovering AI-generated songs falsely using her name and voice.

In a statement shared on her official social media accounts over the weekend, Dion’s team alerted fans to the deceptive content.

"It has come to our attention that unsanctioned, AI-generated music purporting to contain Celine Dion's musical performances, and name and likeness, is currently circulating online and across various digital service providers," the message read. "Please be advised that these recordings are fake and not approved, and are not songs from her official discography."

Among the fraudulent tracks are a gospel cover titled Heal Me Lord, a duet of I Will Always Love You with Whitney Houston, and an alleged collaboration with Charlie Puth on See You Again, according to Canada's CBC. Some of these recordings have racked up millions of views, further fueling concerns over AI’s impact on the music industry.

Dion, whose legendary career spans decades with hits like My Heart Will Go On, The Power of Love, and It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, has been relatively absent from the stage in recent years due to her battle with stiff-person syndrome. The rare neurological disorder, which she revealed in 2022, has affected her mobility and ability to sing.

Despite her health challenges, Dion made a powerful comeback at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she performed Édith Piaf’s L’Hymne à l’amour from the Eiffel Tower—her first public performance since disclosing her diagnosis.

Dion is among many artists pushing back against the unauthorized use of AI in music. In April 2024, over 200 musicians—including Billie Eilish, Pearl Jam, Stevie Wonder, and the estate of Frank Sinatra—signed an open letter demanding that companies stop using AI to replicate their voices and compositions without consent. The artists warned that such practices devalue music and pose a threat to human creativity.

This isn’t the first time Dion has spoken out to protect her work. In August 2024, she called out Donald Trump for playing My Heart Will Go On at a campaign rally without her approval.

"Today, Celine Dion’s management team and her record label Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc. became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing My Heart Will Go On at a Donald Trump / JD Vance campaign rally in Montana," her team posted on social media. "In no way is this use authorized, and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use."

She ended her statement with a pointed remark: "…And really, THAT song?"

As the conversation around AI in music continues, Dion is making it clear—when it comes to her voice, only the real thing will do.
