Céline Dion continues to honor the love of her life, René Angélil, nearly a decade after his passing. The 56-year-old singer shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, reflecting on her enduring love for René, who died from throat cancer in 2016 at the age of 73. Accompanied by a photo of Céline and their three sons—René-Charles, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 14—the post expressed their deep connection to René's memory.

“René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already,” Céline wrote. “Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence—RC, Eddy, Nelson, and I. You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you, and you are forever missed, mon amour. We love you.”
Céline and René’s love story, which began when they married in 1994, became an inspiration to fans worldwide. When René fell ill in 2014, Céline took a break from her Las Vegas residency to care for him, sharing candidly in interviews how difficult it was to watch his health decline.
Despite the heartache, Céline has focused on honoring René’s legacy through her family. She often speaks about how their sons keep his memory alive. “I see him through the eyes of my children every single day,” she shared in a 2017 interview with E! News.
Céline’s resilience has been especially evident as she navigates her own health struggles. Diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome, a rare autoimmune and neurological disorder causing severe muscle spasms, she has leaned on her family for support during this challenging time.

“Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the hardest experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day get back onto the stage and live as normal a life as possible,” Céline wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post in March 2024. “I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my kids, family, team, and all of you!”
In July 2024, Céline made a triumphant return to the stage for her first performance in four years, singing Édith Piaf’s "Hymne à l'Amour" during the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony. The moving performance at the Eiffel Tower marked a significant milestone in her career and personal journey.

“I’m honored to have performed tonight for the Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony, and so full of joy to be back in one of my very favorite cities,” Céline shared on Instagram after the event. “Most of all, I’m so happy to celebrate these amazing athletes, with all their stories of sacrifice and determination, pain and perseverance.”
Céline’s journey continues to inspire fans around the world as she embraces life, family, and her enduring love for René.
