Audrey Hepburn’s son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, is not surprised by Ivanka Trump’s choice to channel the iconic actress' style.

Ferrer—son of Hepburn and her ex-husband Mel Ferrer—shared his thoughts with DailyMail.com after Ivanka Trump wore a black and white Givenchy gown originally designed for Hepburn in the 1954 film Sabrina. Trump wore the vintage dress to the 2025 Liberty Inaugural Ball, celebrating her father, Donald Trump’s inauguration, on January 20.
Ferrer explained, “It’s no surprise that growing up in a family where our mother was a household name, she would seek to draw inspiration from her.” He added that Ivanka’s choice reflected a desire to evoke “ultimate elegance and class” on such a significant occasion, which also marked the 32nd anniversary of Hepburn’s passing and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. "What a cocktail!" Ferrer added.

He went on to describe Hepburn’s legacy as “transgenerational and transnational,” noting how her elegance—rooted in her inner beauty and spirit—continues to inspire countless celebrities, actresses, and models in today’s world. He remarked, “Her elegance is often a reference point, an anchor, especially in times when we seem to have lost our way.”
Ivanka Trump has long admired Hepburn’s style. A representative for Trump explained to Page Six on January 21 that Ivanka has always seen the Breakfast at Tiffany’s star as a personal inspiration. “She views it as a great privilege to honor her legacy in this way,” the rep said. “She is incredibly grateful to the team at Givenchy for bringing this moment to life.”

Ivanka’s ensemble included the strapless Givenchy dress with black floral detailing across the chest and skirt, paired with black satin gloves, black high heels, and a diamond necklace. In addition to this striking look, Ivanka also wore an emerald green skirt suit for the inauguration ceremony, cinched at the waist with a thin black belt and a matching green hat.
