We always hear about Malaysian companies that are mega conglomerates making waves around the world. But did you know that we also have a number of homegrown small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) making their mark here?
On Friday, 13 December, the Malaysian edition of the SME100 Awards was held in Kuala Lumpur to honour the fasting moving SMEs in the country. The premier regional awards organised by SME Magazine is an annual recognition programme served as a symbol to separate the best among the great.

Hosted by stand-up comedian Harith Iskander, the awards also celebrated its 10th anniversary with more than 1,000 business people in attendance, including the Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, YB Dr Ong Kian Ming.

Since its establishment, the SME100 Awards has been the benchmark of reliability and trust among business owners in this lucrative and dynamic market to attract the attention of business ventures, investors, or foreign and domestic clients.

Besides honouring the top SMEs of Malaysia, the awards also saw many musical performances at its Broadway-themed event, including La La Land, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Burlesque, Les Misérables, and Mamma Mia.

The performances of Broadway hits were made up of a crew of 82 dancers, musicians, choreographers, makeup artists, hair stylists, and more after three months preparation.
There was also a special performance by local singer Gin Lee.

All the awardees of the night will be featured in a special edition SME Magazine and other supporting publications for their achievements this year. They’ll also be participating in other programmers under the SME100 Framework.
