The haze is back and it doesn’t seem to be clearing up anytime soon.
Due to the haze, school administrations have been given the authority to either close the schools or to restrict outdoor activities.
The Education Ministry are allowing schools to make the decision without prior permission if the Air Pollutant Index (API) increases to unbearable status because of the haze.
“We already gave power (turunkan kuasa) to the schools, so no need for them to come back to the ministry for permission to close school or stop outdoor activities because we want them to make decisions there and then,” said Deputy Education Minister, Teo Nie Ching.
Speaking to reporters she continued, “We already have SOP (standard operating procedures), meaning when there is haze, actually it is for the school to decide.”

As of this morning at 11am, Pahang and Malacca have recorded unhealthy API readings at 185 and 113 respectively.
For those of you who tend to spend more time outdoors, please do take precautions. Drink more water, wear masks, don’t strain yourself too much and try to find a way to take your outdoor activities inside.
