one million covid-19 cases recorded in canada

Several provinces in Canada were forced to tighten restrictions as their cases surpassed one million and are currently facing a third wave of COVID-19 infections.

Canada has 57,022 active cases, 921,459 recoveries and 23,050 deaths.

In response to the rising number of cases, many non-essential businesses remain closed while some hold 25 percent and 50 percent capacity.

Each of the provinces too have enacted stricter public health measures in an effort to put an end to this third wave.

According to COVID-19 Tracker Canada, vaccinations have been slow to get off the ground, with only 14.6 percent of the population receiving at least one dose of vaccine.

Aside from that, there were delays in deliveries of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna doses from Europe.
