This Co-Working Space Is (Probably) The Only Place In The World Where You Can Pay With Exercise

See? Exercise does pay!

Though relatively new, co-working spaces have seen an increase in number and are slowly becoming the preferred choice for young companies and freelancers. After all, these spaces are usually well equipped, comfortable, and are more affordable than conventional office spaces.

Other perks that usually come with renting a co-working space include high-speed internet, consultation services, access to building facilities and office supplies, unlimited drinks, and more.

That’s exactly what you get when you rent a fixed or shared desk at Nomad Malaysia, a co-working space located at SS18 in Subang Jaya. But, in addition to everything that we’ve just mentioned, Nomad takes things one step further – and cooler – by being probably the only place in the world that accepts payment in the form of exercise!

The concept is the brainchild of founders Tan Sung Lin and his wife, Gladys Tan, who hope to “ignite a little bit of a spark for them (their tenants) to realise that actually, it’s not that hard to include exercise as part of their day.”

Nomad Malaysia’s “exercise payment” comes in the form of two challenges that tenants can choose from.

Performing 20 squats, 20 sit-ups, 20 push-ups, or 1-minute plank will reward them with RM5 off the daily pass price while a 3-minute plank, 3-minute squat and hold, or 100 push-ups or 100 sit-ups will shave off RM10 the daily pass price.

If there’s any better way of motivating 9-to-5 office workers to exercise, we surely can’t think of any. Props to both Tan Sung Lin and Gladys Tan for this genius idea!
