Hair salons, opticians and barbershops will not be in operation during the duration of the Movement Control Order (MCO). Ramadan Bazaars will not operate this year.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the aim of limiting the services during the Movement Control Order is to ensure effectiveness of the measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The government agreed that students of local universities and colleges need to remain where they are now if they have not gone home.

Datuk Seri Ismail said that the government had made the decision after receiving feedback from Malaysians who had voiced their concerns.

“I hope the public understands why this decision was made.”

“It is to safeguard the interests and safety of not only the students, but also their families and communities, ” Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob said.
