Since its humble beginning in 2006 as a cancer specialist hospital, Beacon Hospital has evolved to become a multi-disciplinary centre delivering comprehensive health services through an integrated approach to patient care, in line with their mission to offer innovative and minimally invasive therapies while leading the way as a one-top cancer centre.

Beacon Hospital delivers diagnostic, treatment, palliative and symptoms management including terminal care, and offers various forms of cancer treatments such as radiotherapy, radiosurgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy. It’s also one of the first private hospitals in Malaysia to provide IMRT/IGRT and PET-CT (with cyclotron) since 2006.

Being ahead of the curve in cancer treatment, Beacon Hospital recently introduced Lutetium 177 PSMA therapy to treat advanced prostate cancer and neuro-endocrine cancers, and is also one of the installed sites of Cyberknife radiosurgery in South East Asia.

Oncology at Beacon Hospital is practiced as a specialised approach, each patient's unique and complex needs are understood and addressed through evidence-based diagnosis and compassionate care. Every cancer treatment is tailored to each individual's specific condition with the disease. Recognising the role of palliative care in assisting symptom relief and terminal care for patients, Beacon Hospital also introduced palliative services in 2014, which has since become a routine part of oncology patient care.

Beacon Hospital's palliative care services are led by a palliative care physician with two palliative care nurses. This service complements the oncology services by delivering and monitoring symptom management and providing supportive and end-of-life care. This integrative effort is recently recognised by the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and has accredited Beacon Hospital as an ESMO Designated Centre of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care, one of the first accredited hospitals in ASEAN.

Confident in their belief that participating in evidence-based clinical research will yield up-to-date knowledge in treatment therapies, Beacon Hospital's oncology team has been actively participating in international clinical trials and research studies since 2008, gaining exclusive access to more advanced breakthrough treatments.

Beacon Hospital’s physical densitometry data strictly adheres to the tight benchmark set by IROC Houston, MD Anderson Standard, and by successful completion of this approval, Beacon Hospital is able to be one of the participating sites for international clinical studies.

Cancer is the most feared disease in the world today. Apart from physical ailments, cancer patients are also affected by emotional and mental distress. Recognising the need to provide emotional and social support to cancer patients, Beacon Hospital, at the end of 2015, formed the Beacon Bear Support Group.

Beacon Hospital also takes pride in being among the first few private hospitals in Malaysia that provides financial aid to less-privileged cancer patients via their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. The first programme that was initiated was the CSR Radiotherapy Welfare Fund for patients who can’t afford advanced treatments, such as Cyberknife® and LINAC.

Recently, Beacon Hospital also launched the Chemotherapy Welfare Fund for early-stage breast cancer patients. To date, Beacon Hospital has subsidised almost RM9 million in CSR programmes and is looking forward to help more patients in need.

Their success in establishing and managing their cancer excellence centre has inspired them to develop seven other specialty centres, namely the Brain and Spine, Bone and Joint, Eye, Men’s Health and Urology, Women’s Health and Clinical Research Centre. These specialty centres are anchored by several medical specialists with over 20 years of individual experience, with many recognised as thought leaders in their own right, both nationally and internationally.

Having come a long way from small beginnings, Beacon Hospital celebrates their 12th year anniversary this year as they continue to remain true to their commitment to provide excellent healthcare to everyone in the country and region.
