Television personality Awal Ashaari was charged today at the Magistrate’s Court with committing mischief when he allegedly damaged a boom gate belonging to a residential area in Damansara last month.
The charge was read out to him before Magistrate Zhafran Rahim but Ahmad Awaluddin Ashaari, 41, however, pleaded not guilty.
Awal broke the gate belonging to the Challis Damansara management at 11.30am on April 16, causing it to incur losses estimated at RM600. He was charged with committing the offence.
Upon conviction, the charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of not less than a year and not more than five years or a fine or both.
Ahmad Awaluddin was allowed by court to go out on bail of RM2,000.
Lawyer Datuk M Reza Hassan represented Awal in court.
