You can choose to stay at home with your family for the weekend…

… or you can take them out for a road trip adventure! There’s plenty to do—and it’s much better to experience them with your loved ones.

Take a look at these five local spots you should definitely consider going to:

#1 Sekinchan, Selangor

Tired of KL? Then make your way to Sekinchan, Selangor, to take in the view of green paddy fields. You can learn about where Malaysians’ favourite food—rice—comes from when you visit the Paddy Processing Factory and the Paddy Museum. Feeling hungry? Get some seafood at Pantai Redang and make a wish at the Wishing Tree.

Get a dose of nature with a road trip to Taiping. Your family will love Taiping Zoo with over 180 species of animals. Want a different kind of zoo experience? Try out the Taiping Night Safari instead to see how they behave at night.

If the hot weather is getting to you, then cool down and have a fun splash with your family at Bukit Merah Laketown Waterpark. You can also choose to avoid the sun by taking the free shuttle bus! It stops at various popular spots, such as Taiping Lake Garden and the oldest museum in Malaysia, Perak Museum.

Looking for a weekend of delicious food and some Vitamin Sea? Then make Batu Ferringhi your road trip destination. The beach is only a 15-minute drive from Georgetown and offers plenty of water activities for the whole family to enjoy, such as going on a banana boat and kayaking.

Then, make your way to the Long Beach Food Court where you’ll find all kinds of food under the sun! Don’t limit yourself, though—there are other plenty of restaurants you can try out along the beach. End your day by going to the Batu Ferringhi Night Market, where you’ll find unique trinkets, souvenirs and toys.

Just an hour away from Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Tinggi offers plenty to do for families who need the weekend to wind down. There’s Colmar Tropicale French Village; its architecture and cobblestoned streets will make you feel like you’re in a European country.

Need something fun to do with your younger relatives? Ride a horse at Horse Trails and pet some rabbits at the Rabbit Park. Then, cool down and de-stress at Japanese Village.

Shoppers—you’ll love Johor Premium Outlets (JPO). They carry a wide range of international and local brands at competitive prices. You can also take a break from all that shopping by eating at the restaurants located inside.
