Rapid KL has temporarily suspended operations at 16 stations along the Kelana Jaya Light Rail (LRT) line for one week, starting today (9 November) until Tuesday, 15 November.
This morning, Prasarana held a special press conference regarding the LRT service disruption that caused 16 Kelana Jaya line stations to be suspended for 7 days.
The cause of the issue is currently being identified by Rapid Rail who shared that there appears to be a disruption to the electronic components of the automatic train control system on the LRT service on the Kelana Jaya Line.
Prasarana CEO Mohd Azharuddin explained that the problem that occurred was something serious and has never happened before.
According to Astro Radio News, the disruption resulted in a loss of signal between the control center and the train as well as causing the train to be unable to operate automatically between the Kelana Jaya LRT Station and Ampang Park.
The problem was detected and resolved but only lasted about 1-2 days before it happened again, said Rapid Rail.
Experts from Canada are expected to arrive tomorrow to identify the real cause of the problem.
65 intermediate buses are available to users at the affected stations with a frequency of 15-20 minutes.
