Have you heard of a Hong Kong movie called Lost and Love?

The film was actually based on a true story, a story of a father determined to find his long-lost son who was a victim of kidnapping.

In 1997, the two-year-old boy was abducted and sold off to a couple who raised him. They even sent him to university.

After 24 years, Guo Gangtang and his wife were finally reunited with their son. The heart-wrenching part of this story comes after Guo’s years of unending sacrifice to search for his son. The kidnappers surnamed Hu & Tang are now in prison.

Searching over 500,000km, and going through 10 motorcycles on the way, Guo said “only on the road I felt like I was a father”.

It was his mission to bring back his son, which has left a huge impact in his life. He distributed missing posters and created a website which has helped the police find over 100 other abducted children.

Guo kept going despite rainstorms, car accidents, muggings, and even the occasional naps under bridges.

He imagined his son saying to him, "Dad, Xiao Liu [the boy's nickname] is accompanying you in the rainstorm”.

Many people praised Guo for his bravery after his son was discovered, including Andy Lau, who offered to play his character for free because he was so moved by his story, but Guo had something different to say.

“Many people say I am a great father. But I am not great at all. I am helpless. I just lack the courage to restart life after experiencing tremendous hardship. Therefore I kept on searching.”

Guo's quest to find his son has helped the police in reuniting other families with their children and has even strengthened China's anti-abduction efforts.
