If you’re noticing how you’re sweating while having your meal, don’t panic too much! This usually happens when you’re taking certain types of food.
Here are seven foods that cause you to perspire:
#1 Caffeine
You may find yourself sweating after drinking or eating a lot of caffeine-related things such as coffee and tea. Not everyone goes through this, but if you do, it’s not something to go to the clinic for. It’ll go away when the caffeine is metabolised and excreted from your body.
#2 Processed food
Processed food, which is usually your favourite snacks and burgers, are low in fibre and they don’t have enough enzymes your body needs for digestion. This makes your body work harder to process them, and that’s why you’ll find yourself sweating a lot.
#3 Soup
You’re usually eating soup while it’s hot, and your body will try to cool you down while you’re eating—and that’s why you sweat.
#4 Spicy food
We know you love your masak lemak cili api and kam heong clam dish, but don’t be surprised if you find yourself sweating—your body is trying to cool itself down thanks to a chemical in your brain that makes you think that your body temperature is rising.
#5 Salt
Taking too much sodium will make your body want to get rid of it, and this causes you to sweat. You can reduce excessive sweating when you cut down on salty foods.
#6 Ice-cream
How can something cold make you sweat, you ask? The high levels of fat in ice-cream causes your internal thermostat to increase, and you end up perspiring as a result.
#7 Protein
Protein takes longer for your body to break down, and the more you consume, the more energy is required to digest it. This could lead to your body sweating as your body is working hard to process all that protein.
