There are several factors why you get tired easily. It could be your genetics and bad habits, or perhaps you’ve been practising that ‘healthy lifestyle’ wrongly.

#1 You exercise too much

Working out is good, but there’s always a limit to it. You may think that exercising every single day or for 2 hours straight will help you stay fit or enhance your strength. The painful truth is, overtraining can cause stress on the muscles, joints and bones—thus making you feel lethargic.

So don’t overdo it. Exercise 3 days a week, 30 minutes to 1 hour per day, and don’t forget to take a break in between.

#2 You’re taking unbalanced nutrients

We’ve always been taught to eat lots of grains and vegetables to stay healthy, but this doesn’t mean you should cut off red meat and sugar completely.

Red meat can be a good source of protein, iron and zinc. Excluding meat from your diet may also result in iron deficiency, among other problems. If you’re a vegetarian, speak to a health specialist about alternative food options that can give you the same nutrients.

You should also make some room for sugar as it’s a carbohydrate that gives you energy. Just be sure to eat it less and stay away from processed sugar. As a substitute, eat fruits since they contain natural sugar. Follow the food pyramid to get the balanced nutrients you need!

#3 You’ve got unhealthy sleep habits

Just like how your smartphone works, if you don’t charge the battery, your device won’t last. And if it’s overcharged, it’ll harm the battery in the long run.

It’s the same with our bodies—sleep is the ultimate recharger. If you sleep less than 6 hours, your body will feel exhausted. Sleeping too much—more than 9 hours—isn't good either.

Speaking of smartphone, most of us have that one bad habit—scrolling through our smartphones before we hit the sack. That blue light you’re staring at in the dark will not only hurt your eyes but also affect your body’s ability to prepare for sleep.

So try to get enough sleep, ideally 8 hours per day, and put your gadgets away.

#4 You’re too busy to have your ‘me’ time

You’re so occupied with work and house chores that you forgot to take time for yourself. While you can’t run from your responsibilities as a boss, employee, parent and so on, you need to learn how to manage your hectic lifestyle.

Try to slow down, enjoy life and find yourself some ‘me’ time. Go on a holiday or spend time on a hobby. Doing something as simple as going for a walk, listening to music or talking to someone you trust about your problems can help too!

#5 You don’t drink enough water

Dehydration can cause tiredness, sluggish thinking, mood swings, overheating, and constipation, just to name a few. Drinking plenty of water will help you avoid these problems and help maintain the balance of your body fluids.
