US Open line judge gets online abuse

Sep 08, 2020

Novak Djokovic has told fans to leave a US Open line judge alone, after she received online abuse by some of his rabid fans.

They were upset that he was disqualified from the tournament, for accidentally hitting the linesperson's throat with a ball.

The tennis world no. 1 hit back at the abuse, saying the linesperson deserves compassion.

The US Tennis Association confirmed that Djokovic has been fined $10 thousand dollars for the incident, while he will also forfeit some 250 thousand dollars in prize money.

Barty to skip French open

Tennis World no. 1 Ashleigh Barty has confirmed that she will NOT defend her French Open crown, due to COVID-19 concerns.

Barty, who claimed her first-ever Grand Slam at Roland Garros last year, says it was a difficult decision, but the health of her family and team came first.

COVID-19 concerns also forced her to withdraw from the ongoing US Open.

Ferrari CEO: Binotto's job is safe

Ferrari's CEO insists that F1 principal Mattia Binotto's job is safe, even though the team is going through one of its worst seasons in decades.

He says sacking Binotto will do more harm than good, and the team needs time and stability to turn their fortunes around.

Meanwhile, Ferrari will turn back the clock when it celebrates its 1000th F1 race at the Tuscan GP at Mugello this weekend.

According to Motorsport.com, both Ferrari cars will be painted in a darker shade of red for the race, matching the design used by Ferrari back in 1950.
