UK gives green light for close-contact training

The Premier League is moving closer towards resuming the suspended season, after the UK government gave the green light for teams to conduct close-contact training.

However, these sessions are only allowed under carefully controlled medical conditions.

Prior to this, Premiership teams had been conducting socially distant training.

Another player tests positive

This comes as Bournemouth confirmed that one of its players has tested positive for Covid-19.

The unnamed player was one of two new positive cases reported, in the second round of testing ahead of the planned resumption of the English top flight campaign.

Six positive tests had been returned from the first phase of testing.

The Premier League is hoping to restart the season sometime next month.

Gunners move for Coutinho

Arsenal are reportedly set to begin talks to sign Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian has spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich, but the German club have apparently turned down the chance to make the deal permanent.
