Rio 2016, the first Olympics in South America, has finally started !
Brazil's Interim President, Michel Temer has declared the Olympics open, after a more than 3-hour long glittering opening ceremony.
Brazilian runner, Vanderlei Cordeiro de Lima lit the Olympic cauldron, after football legend Pele withdrew from the duty due to health reasons.

Flag-bearer, Datuk Lee Chong Wei led the Malaysian contingent into the famous Maracana Stadium.
306 gold medals are up for grabs with more than 10,000 athletes competing, comprising 206 countries and for the first time ever, a refugee team.
Meanwhile, Malaysia's men's archery recurve team will meet France in the elimination round tonight, and if they win the match they will meet Italy in the quarterfinals.
The archery team comprises of Khairul Anuar Mohamad, Haziq Kamaruddin and Muhammad Akmal Nor Hasrin.
