Spain qualifies for next year's World Cup

Oct 07, 2017

Spain have qualified for next year's World Cup, after a comfortable 3-0 win over Albania.

Their result also means Group G rivals Italy, who could only manage a 1-1 draw with Macedonia, will have to qualify via the playoffs.

Elsewhere, Wales kept alive their hopes of automatic qualification, with a 1-nil win over Georgia.

Chris Coleman's side are now second in Group D, behind leaders Serbia.

The Welsh can qualify automatically if they beat the Republic of Ireland in their final qualifier next week, and hope that Serbia fail to overcome Georgia.
