Rio Olympics officially comes to an end
Aug 22, 2016
The Rio Olympics have ended with a spectacular carnival-inspired closing ceremony, and the official handover to 2020 hosts Tokyo.
The ceremony celebrated Brazil's arts and was held in a wet Maracana.
The Olympic flame was extinguished, as IOC president Thomas Bach officially closed the Games of the 31st Olympiad after 16 days of competition.
Separately, one of the biggest highlights on the final of competition was 2 Mongolian wrestling coaches stripping off their clothing in front of judges, to protest the result of a bronze medal match.
Images of the spectacle have gone viral on Facebook, with reports saying the Mongolian wrestler was penalised for celebrating too early.
