Aug 29, 2016

National shuttler, Tan Wee Kiong has received RM100,000 from the Sabah state government and private contributors for his achievement at the recent Rio Olympics.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman says the state is proud of the Sabah-based Wee Kiong, whose family settled down in Tawau, 16 years ago.

According to The Star, RM55,000 came from the state government while the remainder was from private contributors.

Wee Kiong and men's doubles partner, Goh V Shem won the silver medal in the event after a hard fought match against China's Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan in the final.
