Rafa Nadal remains on course for a 13th French Open title.

The tournament favourite is through to the semifinals after a straight sets win over Jannik Sinner this morning.

The Spaniard will next face Diego Schwartzman, who booked his place in the last four with a surprise win over Dominic Thiem.

Nadal has gone on to win the title on every occasion that he’s reached the semis at Roland Garros.

Another Liverpool player tests positive

Liverpool midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri has tested positive for Covid-19.

The confirmation came as the 28-year-old was on international duty with the Swiss national team.

Shaqiri is the third Reds player to test positive for the coronavirus after Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane.

It also comes just weeks after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp voiced his concern about releasing his players for international duty, amid the global coronavirus pandemic.

Precautions back home

The National Sports Council is not taking any chances amid the recent increase in coronavirus cases.

It has taken the drastic step of barring athletes from returning home, if their hometowns are located in Covid-19 yellow, orange or red zones.

This is to ensure the safety of the hundreds of trainees at the various sports training centers nationwide.

The NSC has also put off the Road To Tokyo program, until the Covid-19 situation improves.
