Roberto Firminho and Mo Salah each scored twice as Liverpool thrashed Crystal Palace 7-0 to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

This, as Everton moved up to second place, with a 2-1 win over Arsenal.

It is the eighth league defeat for the Gunners this season.

In other results Man City edged past Southampton 1-0.

While Newcastle and Fulham played to a 1-1 draw.

Lionel Messi got on the scoresheet, as Barcelona were held to a 2-all draw by Valencia.

It ensured that Messi equaled Pele’s record of 643 goals for a single club – a feat the Brazil legend achieved with Santos between 1956 and 1974.

PSG striker Neymar is expected to return to action by next month, after sustaining an ankle injury in their defeat to Lyon last week.

This means the Brazilian will be fit to face his former club Barcelona, when they meet in the last-16 of the Champions League in February.
