Liverpool drop new goalie plans

Dec 09, 2020

Factoid of the day: Caoimhin is pronounced Kwee-vin and it's the Irish equivalent of Kevin

Liverpool have scrapped plans to sign a goalkeeper in next month's transfer window.

The EPL champions were looking for a new back-up stopper, after Alisson Becker picked up a hamstring injury recently.

However, they feel it's no longer necessary, following academy graduate Caoimhin Kelleher's impressive performances in recent matches.

Boss Jurgen Klopp praised Kelleher, and other youth players who stepped up during their ongoing injury crisis..

"He was always a talent and now he's got the chance to show that on the big stage. He used the opportunity. Nice for him. Without them we would be lost."

Meanwhile, Kelleher is expected to start again for Liverpool in tomorrow morning's Champions League group tie against Midtylland.

Pogba's on the way out (for real this time?)

Reps for Man United and Juventus are already in talks, over a deal for Paul Pogba.

Earlier reports said that Juve are willing to offer Paolo Dybala to United, in a swap deal for the Frenchman.

This is after Pogba's agent Mino Raiola claimed that Pogba is unhappy at Old Trafford and wants to leave.

Hamilton offers COVID-19 update

F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has given an update on his health, about a week after he tested positive for COVID-19.

In an Instagram post, the Mercedes driver says he hopes to recover in time for this weekend's season-finale at the Abu Dhabi GP.

"It's definitely been one of the hardest weeks that I've had for some time. I've just been focusing on recovering and trying to get back in shape, so I can get back in the car and race the final race in Abu Dhabi. I just wanted to send you guys a message of positivity, let you know that I'm okay"

Meanwhile, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says if things go well, Hamilton could post a negative test result by the end of the week.
