Sep 05, 2016
Kyle Edmund's terrific campaign at the US tennis Open has come to an end, after world number one, Novak Djokovic took him out in straight sets in Round 4.
The world no 84 had defeated Richard Gasquet and John Isner on the way to the 4th round, and Djokovic had words of praise for the young Brit. Speaking to ESPN he said:-
"I want to wish Kyle the best. He is only 21 and playing his first Arthur Ashe match he deserve the applause I made Kyle work for each point, you know I wanted to move him around the court you know baseline shots both forehand and backhand were working very well so you know I'm most pleased with that."
Joining Djokovic in the quarters is Lucas Pouille, who defeated Rafael Nadal in 5 gruelling sets.
