Klopp Continues To Play Down Liverpool's Title Chances

Dec 30, 2019

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has dismissed claims that the Reds are the clear favourites to win the Premier League title.

The Reds beat Wolves 1-nil this morning, to take a 13-point lead over 2nd-placed Leicester.

"The 19/20 season is not over, we are half-way there. Who cares about points in December? We just created a basis for us to work with from now on and that's all."

Klopp adds, he expects a tough fight in their next 19 matches...especially when they go up against teams who are battling for survival or a European spot.

Wolves captain Conor Coady has slammed the VAR system, saying it's "not working" and is "confusing" for players.

This is after VAR played a role in their 1-nil loss to Liverpool this morning.

VAR had allowed Sadio Mane's goal to stand, despite complaints from Wolves players about a handball in the build-up to the goal.

The system also disallowed a possible equaliser by Wolves, for being offside.

Kei Nishikori has pulled out from next month's Australian Open.

The Japanese tennis star, who reached the quarterfinals of this year's tournament, says he's he's still recovering from an elbow injury.

Nishikori the second player in recent days to withdraw from the Grand Slam event, after Andy Murray said that a pelvic injury is preventing him from competing.
