Dressel equals Phelps' World Aquatics Championships record

Jul 31, 2017

Caeleb Dressel has equaled swimming legend Michael Phelps' record of 7 gold medals in a single World Aquatics Championships.

This, after the 20-year-old helped the US nab the men's 4x100 meters medley relay title in Hungary.

This comes just a day after Dressel became the first swimmer to claim 3 world titles in one session that spanned just about one hour and 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, Dressel's success has also helped the US top the overall medals tally at the Championships in Hungary, with 21 gold.

China finished 2nd with 12 gold, followed by Russia with 11.

Malaysia tied with South Africa at 14th, thanks to Cheong Jun Hoong's gold and her bronze with Pandelela Rinong.
