Confirmed: Suarez is leaving Barca

Barcelona have confirmed that Luis Suarez is leaving the club, six years after joining them from Liverpool. 

In a statement, Barca's said that Suarez will join Atletico Madrid, in a 6 million euro move. 

The Uruguay striker, who is Barca's third all-time top scorer, had a year left on his contract with the Catalan club.

Havertz hat-trick helps seal Chelsea Win

Chelsea's new signing Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick, as the Blues thrashed Barnsley 6-nil in the 3rd round of the EFL Cup. 

Tammy Abraham, Ross Barkley and Olivier Giroud also scored for the Blues. 

Meanwhile, Arsenal defeated Leicester 2-nil 

Stoke pipped Gillingham 1-nil 

Everton thumped Fleetwood Town 5-2 

And Newcastle demolished Morecambe 7-nil

Uefa snubs Messi, Ronaldo in awards shortlist

Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo have been left out of the shortlist, in UEFA's Men's Player of the Year prize. 

It's the first time in 10 years that neither of them have made the cut. 

This leaves Man City's Kevin De Bruyne and Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski as the favourites to pick up the prize, while Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer is also on the list. 

Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp, Bayern's Hansi Flick and RB Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann are contention for Coach of the Year.

Hamilton, Osaka make Time's 100 Most Influential People list. 

 

Lewis Hamilton has made it to Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people this year.

Hamilton was included, as he used his dominance of Formula 1 to help push for racial equality. 

Other sports personalities on the list include tennis star Naomi Osaka and sprinter Allyson Felix.
