Australian Open: Federer Survives Onslaught

Jan 28, 2020

Roger Federer has squeezed into the semifinals of the Australian tennis Open, after a 3-and-a half hour marathon against American Tennys Sandgren.

The No. 3 seed saved 7 match points, before posting a 5 sets win.

Meanwhile, top women's seed Ashley Barty defeated Petra Kvitova in straight sets, to book a last-4 clash against Sophia Kenin, and says the American youngster will be a tough opponent..

"(She's) a great ball striker, wants to be inside the court taking the ball either way, so it's about me trying to get my running shoes on again, bringing variety and trying to bring the match back on my terms as much as possible."

Liverpool chiefs are fully behind boss Jurgen Klopp's decision to snub the club's FA Cup 4th round replay against Shrewsbury.

Klopp earlier said that none of the first team will be involved in next week's match, which co-incides with the first week of their much-needed winter break.

Instead, Klopp will field his under-23 team.

The winner of the replay will face Chelsea in the 5th round.

Alexis Sanchez will be given another chance to save his Manchester United career, next season.

The Chilean is currently on loan at Inter Milan, and the player is reportedly keen on making the move permanent.

However, UK reports claim that United chief Ed Woodward doesn't want Sanchez to leave permanently, despite his mediocre performances for the club.

The 31-year-old only managed five goals in 45 appearances for United.
