45 year old Swiss lawyer is new FIFA President
Feb 27, 2016
Gianni Infantino has succeeded Sepp Blatter as the president of FIFA, garnering 27 more votes than closest rival Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa.
The Fifa president will be limited to 3 terms in office, one of the reforms passed by world football's governing body, as it aims to recover from a corruption crisis.
A new council will replace the current executive committee, featuring a female representative from each confederation.
Meanwhile, outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter has welcomed Gianni's appointment, and claimed he gave the fellow Swiss some advice.
