Sep 29, 2023

asian games: qabil rides to gold

Malaysia has won another gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Qabil Ambak Mahamad Fathil emerged as champion in the equestrian individual  dressage freestyle event.

It is the 43-year-old’s first gold since his debut at the Games 25 years ago.

Meanwhile, track cyclist Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom contributed a bronze in the men’s  sprint event.

However, our men’s badminton team made an early exit...after suffering a surprise 3-1  loss to South Korea in the first round.

At the end of Day Five...we now have a total of nine medals at the Games - two gold, two silver and five bronze.

-

Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi, as well as Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso are reportedly the top contenders to replace Carlo Ancelotti, if he leaves Real Madrid when  his contract expires at the end of the season.

-

Over in the Serie A, Jose Mourinho’s Roma has suffered a shock 4-1 loss to Genoa leaving them 16th in the standings, and just two points off the relegation  zone.

-

And, Japan recorded a 28-22 victory over Samoa at the Rugby World Cup...which also guarantees Pool D leaders England a place in the quarterfinals.
