European Super League Is Back On!

Dec 22, 2023

european super league is back on!

The organisers of the controversial European Super League have announced plans for a comeback.

This, after the EU's top court ruled that Fifa and Uefa breached monopoly laws, when it banned the formation of the proposed breakaway league back in 2021.

The revised ESL format will feature 64 men's teams and 32 women's teams.

They will have matches in mid-week, putting it in direct competition with the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Premier League clubs including Man United, Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham say they will NOT be taking part in the ESL.

They initially signed up for the league but backed down amid a huge backlash.

Major leagues in Europe also reaffirmed their commitment to existing club competitions.

Real Madrid have beaten Alaves 1-nil to move to the top of the La Liga table.

They are ahead of Girona on goal difference, after Girona drew 1-all with Real Betis.

--

Luton captain Tom Lockyer has been discharged from hospital, nearly a week after he suffered a cardiac arrest while on the pitch.

He was given a debribrilator implant similar to the one worn by Christian Eriksen.
