Malaysia has picked up its first medal at the Paris Olympics.

It came via Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, who delivered a bronze in the badminton men’s doubles, with a hard-fought three-sets win over Anders Rasmussen and Kim Astrup of Denmark.

The Malaysians were in the brink of defeat, before eventually winning 16-21, 22-20, 21-19.

Their latest achievement means Aaron and Wooi Yik have now won back-to-back bronze medals at the Olympics.

Meanwhile, Lee Zii Jia will have to play for the bronze medal in the men’s singles.

This, after he fell to a straight sets loss to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the semifinals.

-

Elsewhere in Paris…Malaysian golfer Gavin Green has finished joint 33rd overall…which is his best ever Olympics performance to date.

-

National rider Nur Aisyah Zubir was forced to drop out of the women's road cycling race, after suffering cramps in the second half of the event.

-

Noah Lyles of the USA has won the men’s 100m sprint with a dramatic photo-finish victory over Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson.

Lyles won by five-thousandths of a second…making this the closest finish in the event in over 40 years.

-

While in tennis…Novak Djokovic has won the men’s singles gold medal, after beating Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets.
