Usain Bolt is honoured with the Laureus 'Sportsman of the Year' award
Feb 15, 2017
Usain Bolt has been honoured with the Laureus 'Sportsman of the Year' award in Monaco.
The Jamaican sprinter beat the likes of Andy Murray, Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James to join tennis greats Roger Federer and Serena Williams, as a record-equalling 4-time winner.
This, thanks to the 3 gold medals he won at the Rio Olympics last year to complete a 'triple-triple' in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4 by 100 meters relay.
However, last month he was asked to hand back the gold medal he won in the relay event at the Beijing Games in 2008, after team-mate Nesta Carter tested positive for a banned substance.
Meanwhile, American gymnast Simone Biles, who won 4 gold medals in Rio, has claimed the 'Sportswoman of the Year' title.
Leicester City have won the 'Spirit of Sport' award for winning the Premier League last year, after being 5,000-1 outsiders for the title.
American swimming legend Michael Phelps has won the award for 'Comeback of the Year'.
And F1 champion Nico Rosberg clinched the 'Breakthrough of the Year' title.
