Dominic Thiem has won his maiden Grand Slam title after beating Alexander Zverev at the US tennis Open.

The second seed fought back from two sets down to eventually win the marathon five-set thriller.

This is also the first time since late 2016 that a Grand Slam event has been won by someone other than Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic or Rafa Nadal.

Lewis wins in Tuscany

Lewis Hamilton is just one win away from equaling the great Michael Schumacher's record of 91 F1 victories.

Hamilton took his 90th win at last night's Tuscan GP, coming in ahead of Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull's Alex Albon.

The British driver has now won six out of nine races this season...extending his lead in the driver's championship to 55 points.

Good start for Toffees

Everton made a flying start to their Premiership campaign, with a 1-nil win over Tottenham.

It was the Toffees first win over Spurs since 2012.

Elsewhere, Jamie Vardy scored two second-half penalties, as Leicester defeated West Brom 3-nil.

The Baggies' defeat means all three newly-promoted sides including Leeds and Fulham, have lost their opening matches of the season.
