Syed Saddiq tips Azizulhasni Awang to deliver our first Olympic gold medal

Apr 24, 2019

Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq says national track cyclist Azizulhasni Awang is one of our best hopes of winning the country's first gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He adds that the Pocket Rocketman will be sent for various international-level training programmes, in a bid to achieve this goal.

Syed Saddiq insists that cycling is one of the sports his Ministry is counting on to deliver the elusive Olympic gold, adding that Azizul has a champion's mentality to do so.

For the record, Malaysia has won seven silver and four bronze medals, since we first started taking part in the Olympics in 1964.

Shane Long sets Premier League record for fastest goal

Southampton striker Shane Long scored the fastest goal in Premier League history, when he netted after just 7.7 seconds in their 1-all draw with Watford this morning.

He breaks the record held by former Tottenham defender Ledley King, who scored after 9.8 seconds against Bradford back in December 2000.

Elsewhere, Christian Eriksen scored a late winner, as Tottenham posted a 1-nil win over Brighton at home.

The result keeps Spurs in third place in the table, three points ahead of Chelsea.
