It also means that United finish without a major trophy for the third season in a row - their longest barren run since the mid-80's.

The Mercedes driver came in ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen, and teammate Valtteri Bottas.

This is Hamillton's 88th career victory - just three shy of Michael Schumacher's all-time record of wins.

The Malaysian rider suffered an injured hip and bruising, but is otherwise reported to be doing OK.

The former runner-up says he's not suffering from symptoms, but has to go into quarantine for 10 days, as per US regulations.

This means his isolation would end five days before the start of the US Grand Slam, although its unsure at this point if he will participate.
