Serena marches into US Open semis

Serena Williams has powered into the US Open semifinals. 

The tournament favourite recovered from losing the first set, to record a three sets win over Tsvetana Pironkova.

The 38-year-old is now just two games away from a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title.

Williams will next take on Victoria Azarenka, who defeated Elise Mertens in straight sets.

Meanwhile, third seed Daniil Medvedev has made the semis of the men's draw, after a straight sets win over Andrey Rublev.

Perez out, Vettel in?

Sergio Perez has announced that he's leaving Racing Point at the end of the current season.

This adds to speculation that Sebastian Vettel could be joining the outfit after his contract with Ferrari runs out this year.

Vettel's arrival has not been confirmed, but multiple sources have reported that Racing Point, which will be known as Aston Martin next season, have offered him a contract.

The English Premier League says clubs have lost some 700 million pounds during the Covid-19 crisis.

It adds that more financial losses can be expected in the upcoming season - which begins this weekend - as long as fans are still not allowed to attend matches.
